You can find people to follow across the #ActivityPub #Fediverse by using the unofficial #Trunk directory:

https://communitywiki.org/trunk

It's organised by category and is strictly opt-in, so it only lists people who actively ask to be listed.

(Unfortunately #Diaspora doesn't use ActivityPub, but if you're seeing this on #Friendica you can use Trunk.)

The federated social network #Friendica has just released its new version 2019.01, which now includes full #ActivityPub support:

https://github.com/friendica/friendica/releases/tag/2019.01

Thanks to ActivityPub, it federates with Mastodon, PixelFed, Pleroma, PeerTube, NextCloud Social, Osada, Hubzilla etc.

Friendica also still has federation with #Diaspora, so if you're wanting to follow ActivityPub accounts without leaving your Diaspora friends, Friendica might be a good option.

Friendica 2019.01 โ€“ I'm so excited ๐ŸŽ‰

Tonight's the night we're gonna make it happen ❓
Tonight we'll put all other things aside
Give in this time and show your exaltation
We're going for those pleasures byte by byte

I want to love you, feel you
Wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you
I just can't get enough
And even if you're late you will be great 😂

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you ⬇️

Very soon: Friendica 2019.01 release 🎉 🎈 😃

ActivityPub? Well, itโ€™s not that bad

Is there a #developper who knows #ActivityPub well (or very well) who could answer some questions some time ? I have some newbie questions for a federated project. Thanks

My #fediverse ( #diaspora #mastodon #pixelfed ) running on the BeOS inspired alt-OS Haiku 😀 (and federating over #activitypub between PixelFed and Mastodon to boot)...I could have been coding but I'd rather dork around today with altos etc #computer #geek #haikuos #beos

Few random questions running through my mind as I sit here watching my son play 'cut the rope'.

Is #pleroma #activitypub only or can it communicate with diaspora?

How does #friendica compare with #hubzilla in terms of resource usage... ie impact on system load. I'm thinking along the line of single user instances here.

Are there any tweaks that can be made to friendica to make it 'lighter' if only used as a single user instance?

Are friendica and hubzilla the only 2 systems that are capable of full communication with both diaspora and mastodon?

I have to admit, I've been tempted by the claims of being ultra lightweight by pleroma, but I wouldn't want to lose the ability to communicate with diaspora

#Mastodon is the most active ethical social network with almost 2 million registered users, a wide range of mobile apps and thousands of servers to choose from.

There are no ads and no tracking, the network is funded by user donations. You can also set up your own instance either on your own server or through a fully managed hosting service like masto.host

Success! My #wordpress blog now has basic #activitypub support and should be available to follow at hillexplorer@hillexplorer.com

Adding the contact tested successfully with friendica and mastodon

ActivityPub - Final thoughts, one year later. - Dennis Schubert
2019-01-13 activitypub, diaspora, opensource, software, standards Almost exactly one year ago, I published a blog post with lots of detail why I deemed ActivityPub not suitable for implementation as the base federation layer in diaspora\* at that time. Over the course of last year, I have received multiple requests for a follow-up. Unfortunately, my...

Another long text, but don't worry: it is likely my last article on #ActivityPub and #ActivityStreams in its current form. At this point, I don't see the chance of productive progress in my area, so I decided to write this little piece as a reference post that I can link to when people ask questions.

So I added the activitypub plugin for my Wordpress site and proceeded to get very excited. I'm supposed to be able to follow via hillexplorer@hillexplorer.com but unfortunately am getting the message 'network type could not be detected' when trying to add. The webfinger test appears to pass ok though...

An so eine #Mediathek von #ARD oder #ZDF könnte man ja auch einen Server im #Fediverse anbinden, so eine Diskussionsplattform mit #ActivityPub an der Mediathek, wobei es nicht #AP sein muss.

Dear diaspora dev team,

I've come across diaspora issue about adding ActivityPub support and see some recent activity. Especially, this answer by @Fla which is very promising. 😀

The issue is locked, so let me inform you via diaspora post that Prismo developer is working on extracting AP-related code to rubyonrails engine.

Despite author's optimism, I guess it won't be easy to add AP to any project even with this start. However it can help the developer who decides to make a pull request with AP to diaspora. Anyone interested, please, keep an eye on the progress or contact Prismo developer directly.

Federation Testsuite

Currently the federated web holds 35 projects with 9 different protocols (source: the-federation.info) all trying to connect and communicate with each other. But does that actually work? Most of the projects do have unit testing but only for certain areas, like the front-end or the database, but the protocol itself isn't tested. Well it definitely works-on-my-machine but does it work on others too?

Da #friendica posso collegarmi alle utenze create nelle istanze di #diaspora, #mastodon e altri social basati su #ActivityPub
Quindi immagino che possa leggere gli interventi dalle altre parti, ma potrò anche scrivere?

Interesting Interview with Jason Robinson of Socialhome social network - One of the Faces of the Federation

I’m really interested in this type of discussion around how we can better federate social networking. It looks like some interesting things are going to be happening with Socialhome. Next in line is full support for the ActivityPub protocol, which means Socialhome will be able to federate with even more users through platforms like Mastodon.

Socialhome has a nice interface (a bit like Pinterest) but it still lacks like buttons, although you can reshare and comment.

See https://medium.com/we-distribute/faces-of-the-federation-jason-robinson-of-socialhome-7f6aa0b77915.

Yes, I’m at Socialhome too at https://socialhome.network/u/danievdm/ but I’m trying to remember how I posted there 😉

Is this setup doable?

#Fediverse Has anyone tried installing an instance/node/hub/pod/server under a subfolder while maintaining the base domain in the WebFinger? Is it even possible?

I saw this setup before but it was in #Friendica (if I remember correctly) and #XMPP (I think it was done using eJabbered) a decade or so ago. The software I'd like to do this is #WriteFreely and I'm thinking it will require redirection of #ActivityPub requests.

Normally- @channel@example.com is //example.com/channel- @channel@subdomain.example.com is //subdomain.example.com/channel
Anyone tried something like this?- @channel@example.com redirects to //example.com/subfolder/channel
There are two parts that I see in here:- Install WriteFreely in a subfolder //example.com/writefreely/ -- is it supported?
- Have @channel@example.com and all AP requests redirect to @channel@example.com/writefreely (which translates to //example.com/writefreely/channel); OR maybe make WriteFreely use @channel@example.com and capture all AP requests directed to the base domain (feature request?).
